The Lesson Format

Lessons are given in a one hour format, as half-hour lessons can often be rushed and too brief. With one hour lessons, the course material can be learned in fewer segments thereby increasing the student's ability to retain the information.

Level of Instruction

No two students are the same, so why should they study the same lesson plan? I tailor each lesson plan to the student's ability and interests. Lessons can follow a structured approach similar to the Royal Conservatory of Music and Berkeley method or take on a more "free" form based on the student's interests.

Me...againWhen it comes to method of instruction, I take a diatonic approach (staying within a certain scale), which is fueled by my love of music and passion for playing. Typical lesson plans are comprised of practical playing, soloing techniques, and guitar theory where the student will not only learn how to play scales and chords, but also their origins and theory of construction

I also believe that song writing is extremely valuable ability for every musician. I can teach you how to Incorporate chord progressions, melodies, and soloing techniques to construct an original piece of music.

...bottom line is, each lesson should be fun!

All lessons take place in the student's own home. Special arrangements can also be made should your home be unavailable.

Hours & Frequency

Lessons are given on a weekly basis every Sunday to Thursday
from 9:00 AM to 10 PM.

After school lessons start at 3:00 PM.

Talent Shows

All students are invited to perform in our talent shows which are held every four months at different venues throughout Ottawa. Several shows have been held at Don Cherry's Hazeldean Mall Kanata.

Playing in front of an audience, is essential for building confidence and is also an effective measure of the student's progress. Every talent show has the support of a professional sound system, sound tech, and stage...a must for every performance.
